Marco Rountree's need to work with books arises not only from the fact that all of his oeuvre comes from exploring life's everyday objects, but also from the artist's lack of academic training. But Rountree's poetic intuition becomes the key weapon to achieve his goal. The books themselves are already works of art, but the need to present them in a domestic context calls for the building of wooden structures that are abstractions of everyday furniture.
Consequently, the project for Art Positions consists of a background of shelves covering the walls of the booth, and abstractions of tables and chairs with books, all constructing a scenario where everything moves into a new dimension: objectual, contextual, biographical, and creating a new visual poetry.
